Anyone have a Tundra 550? (if so, we should do some comparisons before I get to dive into the Fenix 7's base versus its Plus Edition). The Fenix 7 lacks GPS in the 550, and thats not really a problem in an ultra-light weight, small size package. That means that the Fenix 7 is $20-$25 cheaper than the Fenix 6 in that capacity, and thats pretty impressive. But whats the difference between the Plus and base editions? With the Plus edition, you get the added GPS functionality, a color screen, and the additional 150 maps with Layers, Points of Interest, and tracks. The plus is the version thatll get you the full experience in this area. How does the Fenix 7 compare in this department, and how does the Instinct 2 compare with its base and Plus editions? Lets start with some comparisons here...

Another key difference is that whereas the Fenix 7 has the advantage of a color screen, the Instinct 2 has a black and white display. There really isn't anything wrong with this, its just something that users may initially be unfamiliar with. I think its great that the camera-quality display here is as good as it is, and I should note that yes, thatres why its not as easy to read outside. Also, the Fenix 7 has a large display, especially in comparison with the Instinct 2's smaller display. So, when its turned on its visible, whereas the Instinct 2 might be missed-seeing.
The Instinct 2 series also doesnt have the new stamina workout tracking features introduced on the Fenix 7 and Epix units. Nor does it have the automatic categorization of walking/running time within a workout (new charts on the Fenix 7/Epix). Finally, both units are capable of using Garmins Running Power Connect IQ app, which will leverage the HRM-RUN/HRM-TRI/HRM-PRO/RD-POD accessories. Sadly, Garmin doesnt have native on-wrist running power like COROS or Polar. Alternatively, you can use 3rd party apps like Stryd for that, since both units support Connect IQ.
