Migratory Bird Hunters (primarily duck and goose hunters) at or over the age of 16 must possess a current signed Federal Duck Stamp, along with state licenses and permits, to hunt legally. An E-stamp allows you to purchase a stamp online and immediately use the certification to legally hunt for 45-days while your physical stamp is mailed to you.
Stamp and wildlife art collectors add to their valuable collections and support conservation at the same time. As the longest running, single-themed stamp in the world, Federal Duck Stamps are first and foremost miniature works of art. The design itself is chosen each year in the only open juried art competition sponsored by the federal government. Artists can also become contributors to conservation through this unique opportunity.
If you do not need an E-Stamp and can wait 10-20 days for your stamp to arrive in the mail, you can purchase hunting and collectible federal duck stamps and other stamp products by calling or going online to Amplex or the Postal Store *Please note: you must have the physical stamp in hand to be legal for hunting; a sales receipt from Amplex or the Postal Store is not legal to hunt with
*Please note: you do not need to purchase a hunting license or be a migratory bird hunter to purchase an E-stamp. You may purchase an E-Stamp from any state without being a resident of that state. For example, you can purchase a stamp from any of the states below, even though you live in Oregon.
Purchase from one of the above state websites if you need a federal duck stamp temporary certificate immediately. It is good for migratory bird hunting for up to 45 days (physical stamp, good through June 30, it should be mailed within 20 days)
Each waterfowl hunter 16 years of age or older must carry on his/her person a valid federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp ("duck stamp") signed in ink across the face. Electronic duck stamps are also valid for 45 days from the date of purchase, provided you comply with the state and federal requirements. Stamps do not have to be attached to your license. Duck stamps are not required for hunting coot, rails, gallinules, woodcock or snipe. Duck stamps are not required of minors 12 to 15 years of age hunting migratory waterfowl in New York State.
You may buy the federal "duck stamp" at most post offices, some sporting goods stores, or call 1-800-382-5499. The stamp may also be purchased from select online state hunting license vendors. A list of states selling e-stamps through their on-line license vendor can be found at the USFWS Duck Stamp page (leaves DEC website). Although an e-stamp is legal to use in New York, New York does not currently have the ability to sell e-stamps through our license issuing vendor. We hope to develop that capacity in the next few years. A stamp costs $25.00 plus shipping and handling for phone or internet orders. For e-stamp sales, shipping and handling fees may vary by state. Duck stamps are one of the success stories in wildlife conservation. Since their implementation, duck stamps have generated over $1 billion dollars that have been used to conserve or restore over 6 million acres of wetland habitat (leaves DEC website)!
Anyone age 16 and older must have a license to fish the fresh waters of New Jersey (including privately owned waters) with handline, rod and reel or with a bow. To fish for trout or salmon requires a trout stamp.
A valid fishing license AND trout stamp are required to fish for or possess trout and salmon for all anglers 16 and over, and residents under the age of 70. No trout stamp is required for residents age 70 years and over. Trout Stamp is required whether or not you keep the trout you catch.
Not ready to purchase a full-year license A 7-day vacation license is available to non-residents wishing to test the great fishing opportunities in New Jersey without committing to an annual license. A trout stamp is still required to fish for or possess trout and salmon.
